Job Description

A form carpenter handles all the materials necessary to prepare and dismantle forms for pouring concrete. They must have the skills to cut, drill, modify, clamp, glue, weld, burn, staple, hang, wire, nail, join, screw, fasten, assemble, hook up, sling and signal all the varied materials used to form concrete. Form Carpenters also frame, mold, shape, brace, erect, align, plumb, level, grade, elevate, raise, underpin, lay out, shore and stake many elements of a construction project, including the bulk headings, expansion joints, scaffolding, footings, piers, walls, beams, decks, stairs, floors, and slabs. Once the concrete is poured, Form Carpenters also strip and dismantle the forms.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to take and compute measurements.
  • Being able to interpret drawings and diagrams, Designs, constructs, retrofits and repairs interior and exterior structures made of wood, drywall, plaster, concrete or brick.
  • Basic knowledge of construction trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to read blueprints, knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to lift objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing, understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Exercises their right, responsibility, and obligation to stop work when knowledgeable of job hazards.
  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.
  • Maintain a clean job site including tools and equipment to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment, ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, attend daily tool box meetings and company training programs.
  • Must work productively and safely, consistently meet the production goals as set by the Foreman, Superintendent or Project Manager
Qualifications & Requirements

  • Complete and pass all training requirements and attend all safety training programs as required.
