Moretrench recently hosted West Point engineering major Cadet Harald Juergens at the Rockaway, NJ headquarters for a three-week introduction to the company’s specialty geotechnical work. Cadet Juergens was selected to participate in the United States Military Academy’s Academic Individual Advanced Development (AIAD) program, where cadets have the opportunity to work alongside public sector and private industry leaders during the summer, applying what they have learned in the classroom to real engineering and research problems.
Under the guidance of Senior Vice President Greg Ziegler, himself a West Point graduate, Cadet Juergens visited multiple jobs sites to see various underground construction methods at work and undertook a range of tasks related to current ground freezing projects. Cadet Juergens was able to spend time on various dewatering projects, including fly ash dewatering at two mid-Atlantic power plants. He also visited several Geotec jobsites in New York City, including Columbia University, and jobsites in Washington DC.
