Hard hats that they decorated themselves and souvenir T-shirts were the order of the day for our young visitors, who ranged in age from 4 to 13 years old.
This year’s nationwide “Take our Sons and Daughters to Work” day was held on April 27th and Moretrench’s Rockaway office hosted 25 of our employees’ children for the popular annual event. The full day of activities included a welcome breakfast and presentation by Division Manager Matt DeGregoris, a tour of the offices and shop to see where their parent works, a close-up look at some heavy construction equipment, and keepsake photos with their parent.
The organization’s 2017 theme of ‘Count on Me’ was woven throughout the schedule and included a group activity that saw our young visitors working together to construct a complex popsicle stick maze for Hexbug racing, and time set aside so that they could write or draw a picture about what the theme meant to them. But the highlight of the day for the second year running was undoubtedly the Rizzo’s Reptiles show where everyone had the opportunity to learn about, and safely handle, a variety of small mammals as well as an 8-ft long python named Ariel.
This is the second year that Moretrench has hosted this event. “Once again it was very successful and we look forward to continuing to participate for years to come,” said Joanne Muccione who organized and coordinated the day’s program.
Volunteers who helped with the activities were Magda Nicosia, Beverly Bischer, Michael Fattorusso, Johnna Emanuel, Daniella Santos, Linda Scheck and Doris Zwarych.
